Colours Assembly

26/02/2017

We congratulate and thank all our students for their energy & effort, and commend them on their success in their NCEA achievement in 2016. In the Colours Assembly we particularly focus on the students in Level 1,2,3 NCEA who gained Colours and Gold Endorsed colours for outstanding academic achievement. As a school community we congratulate each and every student. Our teachers and parents have played an enormous part in our students success and we thank all of you for your commitment and dedication throughout the year. In 2016, 92.9% of Garin students achieved Level 1 NCEA compared to 91.4% for other decile NZ 8-10 schools. 95.2% of Garin students gained level 2 NCEA compared with 93.1% in other NZ decile 8 - 10 schools. 61% of Garin students passed NCEA level 3, with excellence and/ or merit, compared with 53.6% for NZ decile 8-10 schools. I thank our guest speaker and Deputy Principal Ms Yvette Krohn-Isherwood for her insightful, reflective, and personal account of her life and academic learning journey. Yvette presented an inspirational message to all of our students; that learning is a never ending journey and that it is not the answers that are important but it is the questions we ask that make us grow and learn.
