Last Friday 6th April the Year 10 Social Studies classes made great use of the warm, sunny weather to put on another great edition of Market Day. Congratulations to all the groups for their hard work, with all groups covering their costs and creating a product or service that people were prepared to pay real money for. The focus of the unit this term has been to understand how people can create economic growth through business, enterprise and innovation. All groups worked with peers they wouldn't normally have worked with to conceptualise, plan and produce their products or services themselves, working on market research, financial planning and business organisation within some pretty realistic regulations before the big day. Thank you very much to all the year 10 parents who came in to have a browse of the products and support our students, and to the staff and students from other years too. To everyone that left with a little less money in their pocket, we trust you found value in the products you purchased, whether it was a Slice from Heav'n, a berry ice block or the latest must-have desk accessory, a potted succulent plant from one of the two competing stalls. The Social Studies teachers are treasuring their team photo purchased from Oh Snap and there were a few Marble Mugs assisting teachers coffee needs in the last week of a busy term.
