God created each one of us and we believe that each one of us has special God-given talents and gifts. As a Catholic school we see it as our task to discover the gifts and talents of each students and to foster them. This is our duty as teachers.
Every student has talents and skills in the classroom-and we push students hard to develop those.
But each student also has other abilities-and we expect everyone to test themselves in Sport, the Arts and Christian Service to discover and develop their talents.
Presided over by parent Peter Lynch, Club Garin Inc. is a charitable trust that exists to make that happen at our school.
As its constitution states, Club Garin exists to further the education of all students at Garin College in the arts, sports and community service outside the classroom. That means that Club Garin finds the best coaches, organises uniform, and looks for sponsorship to make sure each one of our students has the opportunity to achieve excellence in his or her wider curriculum activity.
In our first seven years Club Garin has donated over $200 000 to the school to support sport, arts and service in the wider curriculum.
We encourage students to focus on one activity and dedicate themselves to that, rather than being mediocre in many activities.
