Five Garin College students were selected for the 2020 Waimea Combined 1st XV rugby team, Bede Dodd-Edgar, Cashmir Simone, Eamon Shellock, Tom Lloyd and Arthur Gladstone. Year 13 students Bede, Cashmir and Eamon wrapped up their tenure with the Waimea Combined team having attained 25 caps, 25 caps and 12 caps respectively, while Year 12 student Tom Lloyd has 24 caps to his name so far. Highlights of the Waimea Combined season were wins against St Bedes College and St Thomas’ College, and narrow loses to Nelson College and Rangiora High School. We commend these students on their exemplary sportsmanship
throughout the season and for upholding the Garin spirit, both on and off the field. We hope that Garin College students will carry on the fine tradition set by these students by wearing the Waimea Combined jersey next year.
