Young Vinnies

Aug 10, 2019

This week, the Garin College Young Vinnies presented the memory candles they had created to the coordinator of Project Butterfly, Rebekah Malthus. Project Butterfly is an organization that offers aid to parents that have lost a child under the age of 21. They help them in many ways such as through the Project Butterfly Memorial Pathway in Nelson; placing flowers on the graves of children at Christmas and offering respite weekends. October 15th is World Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day. On this day, the ‘The Wave of Light’ takes place. Starting in New Zealand and stretching across the globe, people light candles in memory of children who have sadly passed at such a young age. Please remember this day and its meaning in your prayers. At a time where abortion is being hotly debated in Government alongside the rights of people to choose this option, as a Vinnies group this was an opportunity to reflect on the grief that comes with losing a child as well as assisting an organisation that does amazing work helping families affected by loss.
