Welcome to Garin College

Nau mai, Tauiti mai Ki te Kāreti o Garin

Garin College, founded in 2002, is a progressive Catholic integrated co-educational school. We serve the Catholic community, especially in Nelson, Tasman and the Top of the South Island. As a truly twenty-first century school, our day students and boarding students enjoy their learning in an open and contemporary environment. We extend a welcome to students that are non-Catholic and to international students from across the world.  As a Catholic college, our school culture is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ where our faith and values are shared and lived.

An inclusive culture of excellence

We enjoy a well established and inclusive culture of striving for excellence in academic achievement. We embrace equity and excellence, providing an education which enables each student to have a life-long love of learning and the desire and skills to lead and participate fully in society.  Students are active in sports, arts and performing arts, culture, leadership, learning, and christian service. Our teachers bring experience and dedication to their daily interactions with students and whanau.

Strong and embedded values

Our community of students, parents, whānau, staff and parishes are integral to the caring family atmosphere we share at Garin. The qualities our students show as a result of their years of learning and living in our school and our community are Generosity, Aroha, Rangimarie, Integrity and New Life. These values are embedded in all we do at Garin.

Garin grows individuals

Garin College provides for each student ‘a place to stand,’ their tūrangawaewae. A place where they can know themselves as individuals and where every student will be challenged and supported to explore the opportunities that will help them become the very best they can be, with a sense of belonging and with a valuable contribution to make.

We celebrate the successes and achievements of our students. We look forward to you joining us and becoming a part of our community. Contact us to arrange a tour or for information on enrolling.
