Archery:
Congratulations to Hector McNeilly, who competed at the NZ Outdoor Nationals Archery Championships at the weekend and scooped a number of outstanding results, including placing 1st in the Qualifying Open Category in which he set national youth records. Hector also placed 1st in the 3-Man teams event, 1st in the mixed teams event and 4th in the individual match-play event. To cap it all off, Hector was also crowned the New Zealand Open Champion.
Hector will represent New Zealand at the World Archery Championships to be held in Shanghai, China during the upcoming school holidays. We wish Hector all the best for the World Championships and look forward to hearing about this incredible opportunity when he returns to school.
Athletics:
Congratulations to Flynn Gilsenan and Brooke Glisenan who represented Garin College at the South Island Track and Field Championships held in Timaru on the weekend. Flynn won the U16 boys discus throw and Brooke won the girls U14 discus throw and placed 3rd in the U14 girls shot put. We are delighted that their training and hard work delivered these superb results. Well done!
Tasman Secondary Schools Motocross Championships
Congratulations to Owen Ellis who won the 16 – 19 years 250cc category and Ben Adlam, who placed 2nd in the 16 – 19 year 125cc category at the Tasman Secondary Schools Motocross championships held at Canvastown on the weekend. Nice work boys!
