Garin College travelled to Auckland last week to compete in the annual National U15 Condor 7’s tournament. The team went down to a strong Westlake Boys team first up but bounced back with a convincing win over a big, physical Tamaki College team 35- 7. This left our boys with a catholic clash for their final match of the day against Cullinane College of Whanganui. In a very tight see sawing match Garin looked as if they had clinched the result only to lose in the final play as Cullinane ran in an outstanding length of the field try. The second day saw Garin compete in the Bowl Division with a Quarter Final first up against St Pauls College of Auckland. Garin put in an excellent performance running in 8 tries and winning 45-7 thus progressing to the Semi Final against Fielding High School. Fielding HS got off to a flyer in the semi final running in three quick tries and despite Garin coming back strongly later in the match and winning the second half the overall result went Fieldings way. Fielding then went on to win the Bowl Final. Garin U15 7’s placed 19th out of 32 teams.
