Vast Dance 2021

Aug 15, 2021

VAST Dance Festival 2021 was held at the Theatre Royal last Friday. This is one of the highlights of the Garin year for those passionate about dance. Motueka High school, Waimea College, Nayland College, Nelson College for Girls and Garin College combined for a full day of dance rehearsals and workshops. The students split into groups and attended three amazing workshops – Modern African dance, Samoan Siva dance and Latin Jive. The students then performed to a full house at The Theatre Royal Nelson and showcased an incredible variety of top quality performances. Garin College performances were led by and choreographed by Rosa Babington, Jorja Milligan and Ellen Theobald. Garin students take dance as an extracurricular activity and have been rehearsing hard for the past few weeks to showcase three different dances, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Jazz. Most, but not all students are dancers and we are really proud to be able to offer this annual opportunity for students to take part in.Next year will be the official 10th anniversary of VAST Nelson. A huge thank you goes out to the voluntary committee that provides us with this valuable opportunity
for our students.
