Yangjiang Student Exchange

Mar 24, 2019

Eight friendly Chinese students and two delightful teachers, supported by the Nelson Chinese Friendship Society, visited Garin College on Thursday 21st March for a cultural exchange with our students. Megan Ritchie and Jade Alborn put a lot of thought and time into organizing their activities so the students would have a memorable experience while at Garin. Megan gave a warm welcome to them in the morning assembly, followed by Jade’s in fluent Mandarin. At the Powhiri, they experienced a hongi, sang in Chinese and presented our school with a print to show the importance of environmental protection, made by one of their students. They enjoyed joining in a number of classes and communicating with our students. It all left quite an  impression and links of friendship that show us that we have much in common.
