Two of our Year 13 students, Zoe Blau and Kiera Handley, were finalists in the Intergenerational Champion category of the Nelson Tasman Age Connect Awards held in Tahunanui on Tuesday morning. They were nominated for this award by Careers Advisor, Brenda Helliwell, for volunteering their time to support the elderly residents of Summerset Richmond Ranges in the use of technology and social media to connect with family and friends. They were unlucky to not come away with the final award but having their contribution recognised in this way is marvelous. Thank you Zoe and Kiera for the wonderful job you have done in this role.
Having voluntary work on your CV is a great way to show a future employer your can-do attitude and your willingness to assist in some way without the need for financial reward. If you are keen to do some voluntary part time work while attending Garin College, please let Mrs. Helliwell know so she can help you look into some great local options.
