Last week seven of our keen chess players took part in the regional Chess Power tournament at St Joseph’s school. There were 20 players from Nelson College & Garin College, and another 50 from the region’s year 7 & 8 schools. Our students found the level of play was higher than they expected, but really enjoyed their games and making new friends over a chess board, and it has inspired them to improve their skills. Our Chess Club meets every Wednesday in the library.
