Gateway – virtual reality experience

Nov 2, 2022

On Thursday Garin College students had the opportunity to meet Jason Triwahyudi from Go Tourism, which is a government initiative to introduce students to opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality industry. This is a large sector that is desperate for staff and the perception is changing as is the wages to secure new talent. Jason himself spoke to the Gateway students about how he started off as a kitchen hand peeling potatoes and carrots and worked his way up to Hotel management. Students and staff enjoyed the virtual reality headsets and experienced some of the bungy jumps, sky diving, zip lining and other tourist attractions this country has to offer.

They then did a quizz to see what part of the industry would suit their personality. Lots of fun as most hadn’t used VR headsets or considered Tourism and Hospitality as a career path.
