Mahi Toi On Air

Jun 17, 2022

Wednesday the 29th of June to Thursday the 30th of June – the Mahi Toi celebrations begin!

Friday 1st of July will be school as normal for most students. We are planning to record the Mahi Toi concert so that it can be shared with the Garin community. We will have some students out of class during this day at timetabled times to be able to make this happen.

Unfortunately, we are unable to hold a live concert for the community this year. However, we’ve been very creative to work around Covid this year, and plan to have a large portion of the student performances live streamed to various hubs around the school. There are a number of online options and events for students to enter and we will be running workshops for all students for two periods during the two day festival.

It’s not too late to sign up – sign up closes on Wednesday the 22nd next week so get those entries in!

All students must enter one event and participate in 1 workshop.

Sign up for workshops was this week and we have heaps of fun activities planned.

If you are having trouble signing up or missed the workshop sign up please don’t hesitate to contact us: email Sarah Pumphrey, Arts Coordinator:  sarahpumphrey@cloud.garincollege.ac.nz

The focus for Mahi Toi is on participation rather than competition.

Mahi Toi may not look like it has in the past, however we are creating a programme that can be run under any setting without too many changes and are looking forward to a really creative, unique  Arts experience for the whole school

The Arts committee has been really busy after school and on the weekend getting the decorations ready for our ‘On Air’ theme.
