MOI STEAMS HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES
Garin College 15-17 January AGES 8-13
This holiday programme will be designed around the theme of INSECTS! Participants will rotate through Art and Engineering, Cooking and Science, and Science and Engineering during the 3 days, spending one day in each area.
Art and Engineering-the creation of insects! Each student will create an amazing sculpture designed around an insect-real or imaginary. Cooking and Science-eating insects? You bet! Students will bake cookies using the high protein insect flour! They will create other food items around the insect theme like ‘dung beetle energy balls’ and possibly some ‘stainglass’ insect wings! Science and Engineering-electronics! Participants will create a few different insect robots, learning about balance, design, soldering, electrical circuits, and much more.

Nelson Intermediate- 20-22 Jan and 23-24 Jan AGES 8-13
This holiday programme will be designed around the theme of OCEAN and BOATS!
Participants will spend their time in Art and Engineering learning about buoyancy, density, design, and electronics while the Cooking and Science will also learn about buoyancy and density as related to cooking while creating lots of Ocean themed food! The last day EVERYONE will come together to design and build a cardboard boat! This programme may involve getting wet and/or falling into the NIS pool!
Monday/Tuesday-Art and Engineering or Cooking. Wednesday all doing boat challenge.
Thursday-Art and Engineering or Cooking. Friday all doing boat challenge.
