On Friday 22 March, 14 of us made our way to Hardy Street for the Hands Around Nelson Mosque event. We were greeted by a huge crowd, many wearing head scarves. Security was very evident with the top of Hardy Street being closed to traffic and the area monitored by armed police. It really brought home the reason behind the event and why they were being run around the country. Thousands had turned up, everyone there with a common goal of showing support and acceptance to not only the victims‟ families but to all races and religions. Thank you to Ms McGahern and Mrs Cornelisen for organising this trip.
