Year 10 learners at Garin are taking part in the pilot of the new numeracy standard. This new standard is also part of nationwide changes to strengthen NCEA, and will be assessed again at the end of Term 3.
To support this, the Mathematics teachers encourage your child to actively use numeracy skills used in real life contexts, such as measuring food in recipes, reading and using bus timetables, and experiencing how banking works (deposits/withdrawals).
