Make peace!
Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time: 1 Sirach 15:15-20, Psalm 119, 1 Corinthians 2:6-10, Matthew 5:23-24
Excerpts chosen by Markelle Ward
When Moses was leading God’s people through the desert, God gave them ten rules or commandments to help the people to live in God’s way.
In this week’s readings we hear Jesus remind his followers of these ‘rules for life’. We are reminded to come to Mass with peace in our hearts, with forgiveness for any person who has done wrong to us.
It is important to be reconciled with each other before bringing gifts or acts of service.
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love
Where there is injury, your pardon Lord
And where there is doubt, true faith in You
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is despair in life, let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness, ever joy
