Director of Boarding Garin College, Nelson, New Zealand

Full-time Permanent Position, commencing January 2026.

Garin College Hostel Trust is seeking a passionate and experienced leader for the position of Director of Boarding. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the lives of young people and guiding a committed team within a Catholic educational environment.

Our hostel community is built on a mission to provide high-quality accommodation for Catholic students from across the Te Tauihu o te Waka – Top of the South Island, enabling learners to access an education within Garin College – Catholic State Integrated Co-Education Years 9 – 13 College. We are proud to foster a supportive and inclusive, family orientated atmosphere in our hostel, Francis Douglas and Mother Teresa House, where boarders flourish and grow a climate of faith, service.

The Role

Reporting to the Garin College Hostel Trust Board, the Director of Boarding leads all aspects of hostel operations, with responsibility for:

  • The pastoral care and wellbeing of boarders
  • Leading and developing a team of dedicated hostel staff
  • Managing property, health and safety, and financial operations
  • Liaising with parents, school leadership, and external communities
  • Promoting the mission, vision, and values of the Garin Hostel Trust and Garin College

The Director ensures the delivery of a safe, nurturing, and values-based boarding experience that supports each young person to become a graduate of faith, hope, and integrity.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to Catholic values, beliefs, and practices, both in their interactions with students and colleagues and through their personal witness.
