World Youth Archery Championships
Early on Sunday morning NZT, Year 13 student Hector McNeilly was going head to head with his opponent from India to decide who would progress through to the Gold – Silver shoot for the U18 World Youth Compound Archery Title held in Winnipeg, Canada. Hector won the match and showed remarkable composure in the final against his opponent from Germany. As the archers shot their final three arrows the wind got up and Hector’s opponent edged ahead to claim the gold medal.
Our congratulations to Hector on claiming his first silver medal and the best international result for New Zealand at a World Youth Archery event. This is an incredible achievement for Hector and his family and we are immensely proud of his hard work and determination. Well done Hector!!
