During week 7 term 1 the Year 10 students embarked on their 2019 Journey. Three days spent in the Marehau sun learning about themselves and others. With a theme of whanaungatanga (family connection and team work), the classes banded together to learn taiaha, waka and powhiri tikanga. In the afternoons the students collected and cooked kaimoana. As evening
came, they prepared meals together and reflected on the spiritual ideas behind whanaungatanga – considering their place in the Garin whanau. It has been a wonderful week and our year 10s were positive and bold with the challenges they faced. He waka eke noa!
