Garin College is a uniform school.  Our Board expects all students to follow this dress code.

Hair and face Hair to be natural colour and off the collar or tied back. No obvious facial makeup. We are a Sunsmart school and Garin named hats must be worn for PE and sports days and are encouraged on other days in Terms 1 and 4.

  • School Rules

    We have very few rules—what we expect is
    • that everyone will work and let others work
    • that everyone will treat other people and property with respect
    • and that everyone will meet their commitments

  • School Procedures

    All students will normally eat lunch at school. If a student needs to leave the grounds during a particular lunchtime, they will also need a permission pass. We believe in waste minimisation so looking after our own litter is a responsibility we take seriously.

  • The law of the land

    Normally the law of New Zealand applies to everything we do—so the use of drugs etc is something we will act on as a school and report to the Police. Some of our students are 18, but we do not allow students to drink alcohol while at school, on a school activity, in uniform, or at any other time when they could be seen as part of a Garin activity.

  • SunSmart

    We want everyone to be sunsafe: when you go outside, students wear a Garin designed and labelled hat and we encourage you to wear UV protection sunglasses.
