Term 4 Week 6 Newsletter 2022

Kia ora tatou ngā whānau

With the start of Advent celebrated in Parish Mass this Sunday 27 November, we are reminded that Christmas is now less than four weeks ahead of us. During the four weeks of Advent we prepare for the celebration of Christ’s birth through our prayer and reflection. Let us take time to reflect on the significance of Christ being alive in our lives and look for practical ways to observe the holiness of the Advent Season.

Loving God, as we enter Advent,

We open our lives to your healing light.

Show us the power of hope.

Prepare our hearts to be changed by you,

That we may walk in the light of Christ.

The Garin College Prizegiving is being held at 7pm on Friday 2 December this week. We look forward with excitement to acknowledge and award our learners for their academic achievement, cultural and sporting success and to celebrate their service to others within our college and community. I look forward to the return of our senior students following their NCEA exams and having the whole school assembled for prizegiving. Once again this will be a truly Garin event where invited guests, board of trustees, parents, whānau, students, teachers and staff, celebrate as a community the success of our students and our college.

Garin College Evening Prizegiving – 2 December 2022

All students to be seated by 6.45 pm sharp, in formal uniform for 7.00pm start.

Along with parents, caregivers, whānau and community, we look forward to celebrating the success of our year 9 – 13 learners and farewelling our graduates at our annual prize giving.

Due to the significant number of students receiving awards and anticipated whānau attending, we anticipate that maximum seating capacity of the College Gym (Sneddon Centre) will be exceeded.

The following arrangements have been made to enable all to participate in the celebration and enjoyable this wonderful occasion.

All Prizewinning students to be seated in the Gym (families were advised last Friday via email if their child is a prizewinner)..

Year 9, 12 and 13 Parents and Caregivers and Whānau are invited to attend the prize giving in the Garin Gym (Sneddon Centre)

Year 10 and 11 Parents and Caregivers and Whānau are invited to join the prizegiving celebration live streamed in the College Library with drinks and nibbles. At the conclusion of the prizegiving we invite you to move across to the Gym and welcome all prize winners as they exit the Gym and enjoy gathering with students and community immediately following.
